Top 23 Contest Blogs on the Web: The Ultimate List

Blog contests are quickly gaining popularity across the Blogosphere as the best way possible to generate tons of publicity, backlinks and new readers. And as the phenomenon becomes more and more common, a whole new crop of blogs have launched specializing in nothing but promoting cool new blog contests to their readers.

It seems like I find another blog that specializes in contests just about every day (and there are a few that launched before we kicked off Contest Blogger, I’m sure). My opinion is “the more the merrier,” because competition always makes you do a better job if you’re worth your salt.

Just check out all of the “make money online” blogs out there; there must be a thousand of them. Most of them don’t make a dime, ironically, but there are quite a few that rake in the dough. There’s plenty of room for multiple successful blogs in a given niche, and the Blog Contest category is growing fast.

The Ultimate List of Blog Contest Sites

So after some pretty extensive research, Contest Blogger is proud to present you with the first definitive list (as far as we know) of contest blogs. Because it’s a new niche, not many of them rank very high in the usual measures of blogging success . . . yet. But as the blog contest fad becomes more popular, many of them will too.

I ranked their success and popularity using two of the most easily available criteria: Technorati rank and Alexa rank (all figures were recorded on September 21, so they are probably different now). And while there are plenty of blogs out there that also post about a blog contest every now and then, I only included sites that deal exclusively with contests.

If you’re in the list, make a point to share it with your readers and send out some link love to the other bloggers in your niche. A sense of community is an important part of building success on your blog, so get to know the other bloggers in the Blog Contest arena!

#1: Contest Blogger

That’s right: we actually had the nerve to list ourselves as the number one contest blog on the Internet . . . but it’s well deserved. Modesty might not be our strong point, but running the most radical, most visited source for cool blog contests definitely is, dude.

#2: The Prize Blog

Alexa Rank: 100,107

Unlike Contest Blogger, The Prize Blog focuses on all kinds of Internet contests . . . not just blog contests. They have a sharp site design and fresh contest posts every day. They’ll publish a short post about your blog contest for free, or you can purchase a longer featured review for twenty bucks.

#3: Disregard Me

Alexa Rank: 443,226

Disregard Me calls itself “an experimental blog to see how well a site can do from participating only in contests, linkbacks and linkbaiting,” and from the looks of things the experiment seems to be going well. Disregard Me is updated regularly and will post your contest free of charge.

#4: RevieWOW

Alexa Rank: 343,980

RevieWOW was started by Vincent Chow as “a way for me to join cool contests by other blogs as I do not want to ruin my primary blog.” He’s found some success in the Contest Blog niche, too, and RevieWOW has an easily navigable layout and a list of all the blogging contests he’s won (our Ashwin Khanna Revenge Contest is one of them).

#5: Blog Contest Site

Alexa Rank: 681,754

Blog Contest Site comes in at number four on this list because of its Technorati and Alexa rating, and it ranks high in the search engines for queries on blog contests. But they haven’t posted a new entry since July 30, and there doesn’t seem to be any way to contact them on the blog. This one may be dead in the water, but the verdict is still out.

#6: My Blog Contest

My Blog Contest has a sharp, professional design, and easily navigable layout, and is updated regularly with fresh blog contests. You can submit your contest to them free-of-charge, or pay five bucks to get a featured status with a sidebar link.

#7: The Link Bait

I like The Link Bait’s clean, simple design and cool color scheme, and their blog slogan: “Linking You to Contests.” The Link Bait has a “Be a Featured Contest” page, but no information posted yet about how much a feature will cost or what it will entail.

#8: Contest Beat

Contest Beat has been aggressively promoting itself across the Blogosphere as a great source for blog contests, and they do a good job of regularly posting fresh content and teaching their readers how to start contests of their own. You can currently submit your blog contest to Contest Beat free of charge.

#9: Blog Contests on the Net

Blog Contests on the Net has an interesting feature in its sidebar that apparently allows you to write your own contest post for submission on their site, although I haven’t tried it. You can post a contest for free or get a featured listing for ten bucks.

#10: The Contest Tracker

Alexa Rank: 249,779

The Contest Tracker is another contest blog that hasn’t been updated since late July, but its stats still rank it in the top ten on this list. Again, this one may be all washed up, but I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt.
