It’s about time someone submitted a cool writing project

I get way too many contest submissions here every day to go looking for stuff to post on, but I have to admit that I was starting to get disappointed about the low number of writing projects that people get to me.  Writing projects may take a little extra effort and thought to enter, but they’re a great way to spur your imagination, come up with great new material for your blog, and take part in a collaborative effort in the blogosphere.  A writing project is also a good way to build backlinks, since a lot of bloggers post links to everyone who takes part.

That’s why I was totally stoked to see this cool new blog writing project over at Blue Jar: it’s on a simple, helpful theme that tons of bloggers can write about, it’s well thought out, and it offers some pretty substantial prizes (most writing projects don’t, believe it or not).

The subject for Blue Jar’s writing project is “how to.”  That’s right: all you have to do is write a ”how to” post and you’re in.  Heck, you could put together a tutorial about the best methods for shaving your back hair if you wanted to (not that I know anything about that, dude).  Just try to make sure the topic jives with the theme of your blog, then contact Blue Jar to point them toward your entry.

Here’s the really cool thing about this writing project: the judges are going to be the bloggers who take part.  Each blogger who submits a post will have a week to post their three favorite entries on their site, and the ones who receive the most votes will get prizes of 100, 75 and 50 bucks respectively.  That’s a lot of cash to give away in one writing project, man.

But the prizes in this writing project don’t stop there.  As a bonus, the three winners will also get their banner ad displayed on Blue Jar free for a whole month, which amounts to some great publicity for your blog.  Just make sure you get your entry in by September 18 in order to take part in the project.

If you have a blog and even the slightest writing talent, you’d be totally missing out if you didn’t cook up a post to enter in this contest.  Come on, dude . . . there’s got to be something you know how to do.  Let it earn you some money and backlinks!

And before you tell Contest Blogger to put his money where his mouth is, I already have.  You can see my entry in this writing project over at one of my other blogs, Romance Tracker.
